AND SEEING THAT' THEY WERE ON ONE ACCORD, HE ANSWERED THEIR PRAYERS. HE SAID UNTO THEM, "YOU SHALL NOW BE KNOWN AS THE NEW COVENANT BAPTIST CHURCH (MISSIONARY), FOR YOU AND I HAVE MADE A "NEW COVENANT": A "NEW COVENANT OF PEACE, A "NEW COVENANT" OF UNITY, A "NEW COVENANT" OF LOVE AND A "NEW COVENANT" OF UNDERSTANDING." "YOUR SHEPHERD SHALL BE THE REVEREND JAMES M. MC INTOSH".
GOD LAID IT ON THE HEART OF THE LATE REV. GEORGE T. CARTER AND THE CONGREGATION OF THE WEST BETHLEHEM BAPTIST CHURCH, LOCATED AT 35TH AND SPRING GARDEN STREETS, TO WELCOME THEM INTO THE HOUSEHOLD OF FAITH. ON SUNDAY, MARCH 14, 1976. THE NEWLY FORMED CONGREGATION KNOWN AS THE "NEW COVENANT BAPTIST CHURCH (MISSIONARY)" MET FOR THEIR FIRST WORSHIP SERVICE.

ON SUNDAY, MAY 2, 1976, AFTER BEING SET ASIDE BY THE PENNSYLVANIA BAPTIST ASSOCIATION, AS THE NEW COVENANT BAPTIST CHURCH (MISSIONARY), INC..
THE FOLLOWING BOARDS & AUXILIARIES WERE ESTABLISHED: BOARD OF DEACONS, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, DEACONESS BOARD, CHURCH SCHOOL, MISSIONARY SOCIETY, SENIOR CHOIR, EVER READY CHORUS, YOUNG ADULT CHOIR, A.C INTOSH SINGERS, SENIOR, YOUNG ADULT & JUNIOR USHERS, NURSES UNIT, HOSPITALITY CLUB AND VOLTH DEPARTMENT.
ON THE FOURTH SUNDAY IN JUNE 1976, WE BEGAN OUR WORSHIP SERVICES AT THE MT. OLIVET TABERNACLE BAPTIST CHURCH, 42ND AND WALLACE STREETS, WHERE THEIR GRACIOUS PASTOR, THE REV. MARSHALL LORENZO SHEPARD, JR. AND HIS CONGREGATION WELCOMED US INTO THE FELLOWSHIP.
ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11. 1977, OUR PRAYERS FOR A ' NEW HOME" WERE ANSWERED. WE MARCHED INTO OUR NEW CHURCH EDIFICE A WAYNE AVENUE AND QUEEN LANE. IN THE GERMANTOWN SECTION OF THE CITY. THE CHURCH WAS SITED BY DEACONESS DOLORES BYNUM. OH WHAT A GLORIOUS DAY TO REJOICE AND BE EXCEEDINGLY GLAD, FOR THE LORD HAD KEPT HIS PROMISE UNTO US.
THE NEW COVENANT BAPTIST CHURCH HAS ALWAYS BEEN INVOLVED WITH EVERY ASPECT OF THE TOTAL MAN. OUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CAUSE OF CHRIST HAVE BEEN FURTHERED THROUGH OUR CHURCH AND CIVIC AFFILIATIONS.
UNDER PASTOR MCINTOSH'S LEADERSHIP, NEW COVENANT CAN PROUDLY CLAIM THE FOLLOWING SONS AND DAUGHTER: THE LATE REV. CARL N. FITCHETT-PASTOR, MT. MORIAH TEMPLE BC; REV. HORACE E. MEANS -ASSISTANT TO PASTOR LORENZO SHEPPARD, MT. OLIVET TABERNACLE BC: REV. STEVEN AVINGER, SR.-PASTOR, GREATER ST. MATTHEW BC; REV. DR. MARY LOU MOORE-CO PASTOR, MT. TABOR AME CHURCH: REV. MELVIN CARTER, PASTOR-ST. JOHN BC; AND THE LATE REV. GEORGE L. SAVAGE-PASTOR, EAST BETHEL BC.
IN NOVEMBER 1996, AFTER MUCH LABOR AND LOVE, PASTOR MCINTOSH RETIRED AND BECAME PASTOR EMERITUS. IN FEBRUARY 1997, REV. JOSEPH L. PROCTOR.. JR.. WAS CALLED AS PASTOR AFTER HAVING SERVED AS CO-PASTOR FOR THE PREVIOUS YEAR. HE IS A SON OF THE RISING SUN BC CHURCH, PASTORED BY REV. HARRY E. BRONSON.
